ATELIER DU DANEMARK, 2015

Not at Home, Viborg Kunsthal, Viborg

Fragments of the interior surfaces of the Danish residency studio at Cité des Arts in Paris, which the artist visited for three months, are cast in bronze and placed on different types of plinths. By applying wax on the surfaces of the room, the history of a room that for 50 years has hosted different Danish artists is mapped out. The studio as a metaphor for both freedom and imprisonment and Paris as a metaphor for artistic fulfilment comes together in a series of sculptures that seems to only just hang on to their foundation.
